Selecting the right extraction and filtration system is about far more than airflow. The correct choice protects your workforce, keeps you compliant, and can dramatically cut running costs through heat recovery and filtered-air return.
Start with the pollutant, not the fan
Every effective system begins with a clear understanding of what you are capturing. Fine metallic dust, welding fume, oil mist, wood dust and VOCs each behave differently and demand a different filtration approach.
- Dry dust and fume use cartridge or bag filters with automatic compressed-air cleaning.
- Oil mist is best handled by dedicated separators that recover and return the mist.
- VOCs and odours call for activated carbon adsorption, carefully sized to the load.
Design for compliance from day one
Combustible dusts bring ATEX obligations. Where there is any explosion risk, the whole system, filter, ductwork, fan and controls, must be specified as an ATEX-compliant assembly rather than retro-fitted later.
The cheapest system is rarely the one with the lowest purchase price. It is the one that recovers heat, returns clean air, and never trips a safety inspection.
Recover energy where you can
Extracting large volumes of warm air is expensive if it goes straight outside. High-efficiency filtered-air return and heat exchangers keep that energy in the building, paying back the investment across a single heating season.
